What is Lower Eyelid Surgery?
Lower eyelid surgery (lower blepharoplasty) improves the appearance of the area beneath the eyes by addressing excess fat, loose skin, and under-eye hollows. Depending on the patient’s anatomy and concerns, the procedure may involve removing fat, redistributing it to smooth transitions, tightening the skin, or a combination of these.
Rather than simply excising tissue, modern lower eyelid surgery focuses on preserving volume and restoring youthful contours. In many cases, bulging under-eye fat is repositioned to fill hollow tear troughs, creating a smoother and more balanced appearance. Incisions are carefully placed either just below the lash line or inside the lower eyelid for minimal visible scarring.
