Your first BOTOX injections will last about 3-4 months, at which point further treatments will be needed to maintain your results. After that, touch-up appointments are only needed about every 6 months, depending on how your body metabolizes the product. Many patients appreciate the flexibility of BOTOX and wrinkle relaxers, allowing them to continue treatment on their own terms or take breaks when desired. Absolutely, and this is extremely common with many of our patients. The most commonly paired treatment with wrinkle relaxers is dermal fillers. This is because they can further combat signs of aging, such as adding volume to areas that have hollowed over the years (e.g., the cheeks or under the eyes). Additionally, Vampire Facelifts and Microneedling have been combined with BOTOX, as they work on the skin’s surface to create a clear complexion.

Ultimately, the combination of treatments depends on your unique goals and concerns. We have several options we can discuss with you. Dr. P will determine whether they are beneficial for you and whether treatments can be completed the same day or spaced out.

BOTOX and wrinkle relaxers are administered by either Dr. P or another licensed physician at our practice. This ensures a safe experience for patients receiving treatment. With that said, all cosmetic procedures carry some degree of risk, including pain, headaches, irritation, allergic reactions, and more. We will go over these risks with you during your first appointment to ensure you’re comfortable before moving forward.

BOTOX lasts up to 4 months, but results may vary from person to person based on their individual body chemistry. To maintain optimal results long-term, you can schedule retreatment appointments every 3-4 months (before the product completely dissipates).

Fillers add volume, so they’re primarily used for moderate-to-severe wrinkles on the mid- to lower face. If you have very deep wrinkles in the upper part of your face, the team may recommend fillers, but they’re only uncommonly used in the upper face. Fillers don’t prevent muscle movement as BOTOX does. If you have lines that come from muscle movement, BOTOX is the go-to injectable. Fillers might be the right option if you have lines that exist even when you’re not making an expression. BOTOX and fillers are both temporary, so if you’re looking for a permanent correction, you might want to consider surgery.

BOTOX and surgery are very different options, so each person needs to evaluate their treatment goals and situation to determine which is right for them. In general, BOTOX is a good option if you have mild-to-moderate lines and wrinkles in the upper face and don’t mind having maintenance treatments three or four times a year.

If you have deep lines and wrinkles on your upper or lower face and are looking for a longer-term solution than fillers, surgery may be right for you. Procedures such as an eyelift or facelift can remove excess skin and fat while repositioning the skin for a more youthful look. Many people who opt for procedures such as eyelid surgery later use BOTOX for maintenance and preventive treatment.
